A 12-story building that used to be the home of Edgar Rice Burrough’s publishing company and is now the third location for the Freehand hotel mini chain. To pay homage to its history, there’s even a suite named after Edgar with incredible views of Downtown LA. An accessible hotel brand that features Roman & Williams-designed rooms, a rooftop terrace with a pool, and even the famous Broken Shaker cocktail bar, it is perfect for small and large groups. Opened in 1929 as an apartment building that was home to the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra, this property, with an amazing city view, has been an important address since its early days. Purchased in 2004 by New York based hotelier and restaurateur Jeff Klein, he made sure to renovate and transform what was a run down property into a hotel that is still a celebrity favorite and often frequented by movie executives.
