As the pandemic continues to disrupt people’s lives all across the globe, most leisure travel is still not an option for many of us. Safety concerns along with government restrictions are hindering us from booking those summer vacations we have all counted on our entire lives and excitingly wait for each year. This year is no different. We cannot simply “turn-off” our natural human instinct and, therefore, many will satisfy that appetite for travel any which way possible.

The demand for travel in 2021 is growing and we predict that spending on experiences (whether near or far) with loved ones will be a top priority. Airlines and other travel companies have taken notice so getting ahead of the upcoming surge in travel may be one of the wisest and healthiest decisions right now and here is why…

#1 Airfare Is Low…

As with most travel-related costs, the pandemic ‘grounded’ airfares across the globe and prices have been consistently low for months. Most likely we will continue to see airline tickets remain low but as the vaccine rolls out and the warmer weather rolls in we expect airfares to increase. Therefore, by booking a trip now for later in the year or even early next year, you can secure your spot on the beach without having to worry about higher costs and potentially unavailable seats. We recommend some hotels in the US and Mexico for an ‘early-bird’ reservation.

#2 No Change Fees…

Even though airfare may be low now and could remain low for months to come, many airlines are already planning to remove the no-fee change policy that we have enjoyed this past year. This perk is currently offered by most US carriers through March 2021, regardless of the travel date. However, we can reasonably assume that they will extend this offering in April or beyond but there is no guarantee. That said, if you book now you can still benefit from the current no-fee change policies.

#3 Seat Availability…

There are still fewer flights in 2021 than there were pre-pandemic and, therefore, a limited number of available seats to numerous destinations. Of course, flight schedules dramatically dropped but as travel restrictions ease and people become more comfortable to take to the skies we could begin to see seats starting to fill up. For example, starting May 1, Delta Airlines will begin selling the whole plane, lifting its ban on booking the middle seat. By booking now, you can almost guarantee to have your choice of favorite seat on the plane.

#4 Best Deals on Hotels…

Along with airfare, hotel prices have been historically low during the pandemic but that will change as we start traveling more this spring and summer. As people’s comfort level for travel increases in conjunction with the vaccine roll out, hotels will be paying attention. In addition,  families have enjoyed much more flexibility in terms of work and travel and can now enjoy getaways for longer periods of time. If you would like to get ahead of the crowd, here are some recent articles regarding current and new hotels that can fulfill your vacation desires.

#5 Boost Your Mood…Because You Deserve It…

“Never underestimate the power of the mind.” We have all heard this in some way or form before but as we’ve learned throughout this pandemic, this rings true now more than ever. Our moods are critical to our health and by simply planning a trip, even if not booking it, can be a beneficial experience to your mental state and boost your overall health. The mere fact of knowing you are preparing to set plans can give you the endorphins you need to keep going.

Insider Tip: Keeping Up with Public Health Guidance—Once you book your hotel, contact the hotel to find out what cleaning and safety protocols they have in place so you know what to expect before checking in.
